Location

Nantes is the capital of Pays de la Loire region, and is only two hours by train west of Paris. It can also be reached by a direct train from Charles de Gaulle Roissy airport in Paris (3 hours). Nantes international airport is connected to most important European cities.

The train station of Nantes is conveniently located in the heart of the city, and is within walking distance of La Cité (see the map below). Public transportation exists between the airport and the city center, and it is also possible to take a taxi.

The city of Nantes is especially welcoming during the Summer, with lots of cultural and touristic events. Among others, a visit to Les Machines de l'Île, their great elephant and their marine worlds carousel is a must see.

Housing and food

La Cité is located in the centre of Nantes, on the west side of the Saint-Felix canal. There are more than 1000 hotel rooms within a 5-minute walk, including one 4-star onsite hotel. The tourism office of Nantes offers a convient reservation center, other booking centers are also available.

The Residhome Les Berges de la Loire, an aparthotel within walking distance from La Cité (R1 on the map below), offers a negociated rate for those attending SEDI 2016 (84 euros per night up to 4 nights, 71 euros per night for longer stays). The Mercure Nantes Centre Grand Hôtel **** is located in the city center, and is only 2 tramway stops away from the event venue “Cité des Congrès”.
